Chinachem Group (CCG) is partnering with HKSTP to launch a range of initiatives to encourage the adoption of smart city solutions developed by quality tech ventures to foster Hong Kong’s bustling cutting-edge innovation.
“CCG Accel – Powered by HKSTP” is one of the initiatives under the partnership of CCG and HKSTP. It is a pioneering pilot-first accelerator programme aiming to propel high potential tech ventures through a pilot-to-mass adoption process. The accelerator consists of 3 themed cohorts in 2 years. CCG will provide designated properties as the stage for pilot in real-life scenarios for each cohort. Mentors from CCG will share their expertise with selected tech ventures to shape the solutions prior to mass adoption. Tech ventures will also benefit from promotion through HKSTP’s network and its value-added services. The first cohort will kick off in September 2021. Further details of the cohorts including the themes will be announced in due course.
Cohort 1 – Central Market
The stage for the 1st cohort of CCG Accel is Central Market, where heritage meets innovation.
Central Market Revitalisation Project is a response to the Chief Executive's Policy Address in 2009. The project is promoted as a “Playground for All”, envisages the transformation of the former Central Market, operated from 1939 to 2003 and later preserved and revitalised by the Urban Renewal Authority (URA), into a vibrant, bustling place where people of all walks of life can meet, mingle and socialise.
CCG join hands with Urban Renewal Authority to make this historical site with collective memory “approachable, energetic and gregarious” and return maximum benefit to the community. It aims to make it a ‘21st Century Marketplace’ which will support local brands and start-ups.
